March 2011 shipment by the numbers

Tamara and Julian in the warehouse

Mom and I strike a pose in the warehouse after gathering over 120 pieces of equipment.

Greetings! Julian here. After a grueling day of sorting wheelchairs and adaptive equipment at Hope Haven International Ministries in Sioux Falls, SD, Mom and I are excited to report that we have an awesome shipment ready to go for Peru in March 2011. It will include:

  • More than 160 specialized wheelchairs
  • 13 pediatric walkers
  • Almost 100 canes
  • 12 sets of pediatric crutches
  • 3 standers
  • 2 pallets (or about 700 pounds) of donated components gathered by volunteers Sammie Wakefield and Mary Jo Wagner

Our planned shipping date is January 10, 2011.

As Christmas approaches this week, I am so grateful for the support of Eleanore’s Project friends, donors and volunteers who make this work possible. Today, especially, Mom and I appreciate Mark Richard and his crew at the Hope Haven facilities in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Rock Valley and Ireton, Iowa. They were tremendously helpful and cheery as we mucked through the chilly warehouses.

A very merry Christmas to you all.

If you need a last-minute present, don’t forget that wheelchair sponsorships make a great gift and a lasting impact on the life of a child.
