"Transportation safety for wheelchair riders and children with disabilities"

From public and school buses, to community living vans and personal vehicles, transportation safety for wheelchair riders is frequently uncharted territory.

Lacking knowledge about best practices in this area, many individual travel in unsafe circumstances that could result in death or serious complications of already existing disabilities.

Sue Johnson, Director of Education from Columbia Medical ,will present a valuable program on transportation safety for persons with disabilities. The session will increase awareness of how to integrate transportation safety considerations with seating and medical equipment needs for the clinic, home, school and work environments.

Who should attend?

Wheelchair riders, caregivers, educators, family support specialists, group home managers, habilitation aides, OTs, para-educators, parents, police officers, PTs, public health nurses, public/school transportation drivers, social workers.
